She is, as Jim says, very bossy. Or, she has no doubts about what she wants and when she wants it. She was especially pleased to lick out the tuna cans at noon.

I've lost the other pictures. Hmm.

Sneezes

I've never figured out why cats do not like sneezes--at least, Nicky didn't, and neither does Micia. Though it isn't her fault that there's so much pollen in the air this year that even I am sneezing & sniffing, sneezes inevitably launch her off my lap.

(Pictures coming--can't upload them from this computer.)

Mealtime

She's getting into the habit of hopping up into Jim's chair when I bring the food to the table. Then she just waits for him to come & boost her out. He says when he sat down for his post-prandial nap, she (very gently) came up & settled on his stomach. Unfortunately I was at the gym, so no pics :(.

But here is an earlier one. She likes under the blanket, but it's too hot for me!

OK. I really want to finish this Ravenscroft project--there's so little to do--and there's this cat who just wants to lay in my lap, which means I can't read the text because it's in a little book that has to be propped open! Aughh! Go sit in the window in the sun! 8-)

Smoke alarm

One of the "quirks" of our house is that the hood in the kitchen vents back into the kitchen, which is inconvenient, at the least: the broiler & the self-cleaning oven don't get used much. Last night it was hamburgers on top of the stove, but all the same it set off two of the alarms--the one in the dining room and the one going down to the basement. Set Micia flying straight up the stairs, which was the only place something wasn't beeping raucously.

The pill giving did not go well last night--Jim did it, but it was pretty bad--for both of them. Fortunately he was clear enough to sing at the WELCA retreat this morning, but I think I'll just do it from now on.

She is delighted that it's warm enough that I could open the windows today. But is she sitting in a window now? No--she's on my lap at the computer.

Pills 8-(

Last night I got Jim to do it. She really hates it, and I don't want to hurt her, so I'm tense. She stomped off in a pout, so now I shall go check on her and then, I think, trot off to bed. Church starts at 8:30 during CDT, so we've been up a long time today.
She "sings" her way through the house periodically. She'd really prefer to be carried around, but most of the time, I let her go on her own. We're still learning her language: this afternoon she was making a painful sort of growling in the bedroom, so I checked on her. She wasn't in the litter box--just sitting in the middle of the room. This morning she had eaten all her meat, most of her kibbles, and most of her water. When I gave her her meat, she scarfed it down like she was starving, so I gave her a tad more. It being Sunday afternoon, we pretty much vegged out, with her curled up in my lap while I did the puzzles.

Saturday morning

On Saturdays, I change the sheets, and now we play the kitty game. :D

She is ready for bed now--she's upstairs on our bed, quite comfortable. She pretty much followed me around today--racing to get up the stairs or down the stairs first. Watching her go downstairs is a hoot. She did start using the large litter box while we were gone: she pointedly indicated that it needed cleaning :). And she seems to believe that if we are eating, she should get some, too. She's quite happy that we're home, I think.

We're home

She was to the top of the stairs the minute the door opened tonight. Tried to convince us she was starving, though there were plenty of kibbles. She "talked" her way through the house (except the basement, of course--I suspect she will avoid going downstairs for a while). I've returned her "stuff" to the downstairs bedroom, but I pretty much think that we should be able to let her come upstairs with us at night, and I can keep the small litter box & food in the downstairs bathroom. She hasn't touched the "Maria plant" since Christine sprayed her the first night. She's a little more stubborn about the pothos upstairs, so I just keep that door closed unless one of us is in there.

She saw the suitcases come out, found a place in the sun & studiously ignored what was going on. However, we decided that, at least at this point, we'd like to have her in the basement while we're gone (no plants--no carpet to vomit on). Gave Cindy the tour--I expect she will let Micia come into the house during the pill-ing, litter cleaning, feeding, etc. (Micia actually ate 2 [tiny--1 tsp.] spoons of meat yesterday! Finished the first & plopped down in front of the 'frig for more. She's a very smart cat.) Anyway, I left it to Jim to bring her into the basement. He said she was very, so when we picked up the dry cleaning so Jim would have a jacket for the banquet, we didn't bring the rest home--just pitched it in the car & brought it with us.

She's very at home. I think the basement-when-we're-gone business won't be permanent. It makes me sad to leave her so soon after she's come, but I'm confident in Cindy's loving ways, so it won't be too traumatic.

The morning after

I was exhausted after the party, and Micia was quite happy to snuggle in my lap until I had to get up to do the dishes. She actually ate most of her meat yesterday, and is not drinking so much. The litter box in the basement is still pristine, though she has been down there several times. I got her comb out yesterday' and that was just heaven for her. Cindy is coming after the WELCA meeting to get instructions, so I'll have tp print out the veterinary instructions.

Ladies Day

I was up at the crack of dawn to get ready for the ladies who are arriving at 1:30. Micia clearly heard me in the bathroom above her, and was meowing loudly by the time I got downstairs. She has attempted to chew on the pothos in the computer room, climbed up on the dining room table to see whether the bowl with the dregs of the leftover risotto was still there (from last night--we'd already talked about that, and the bowl was moved to the kitchen): she saw me come into the room and promptly removed herself, without even being told. She also contemplated chewing the dry herb plants next to the worm farm, but found that too unappetizing. :)

She is eating, not tons, but sufficiently to poop, and the pilling is getting easier: she didn't like it last night, but didn't growl and was happy to go get a drink & pop back up into my lap. She's still very verbal in the morning, but I realize she always was at home, too, so this is not surprising. The ladies don't mind Cindy's cats, so perhaps I'll let her out. We'll see.

While I struggled with producing the handouts for the meeting, she finally decided to go back to bed with Jim.

Tuesday

She was quite ready to come out of the bedroom by the time I got downstairs this morning. She wants her food in the kitchen & her litter box in the bathroom. So although she knows where they are, and uses them (she is drinking a lot an eating a little), she still goes where they "belong" and then tells me about it. She also announces her arrival in every room--and there are a lot of rooms in this house! I carried her down to the basement--she sits on the top step and meows--and showed her the large litter box--the good, "Private" one from home--and she went on in. I have a box & the carrier in that room, too. Then I brought her upstairs, and she stayed up here with me for a while, then announced she wanted to go back down. I informed her that she's going to have to learn to maneuver them herself. I hope not to get accustomed to carrying her around with me!

Pills

The pill is down. Very itchy-eared, annoyed cat who had been sleeping peacefully in my lap since I got home from choir practice. I have a nick on my thumb and a great deal of fur on and about my person. I promised her I'd get better at it.

Monday

She was most annoyed that I wasn't coming to bed last night. Since she's used to having the bedroom door closed, I put her in "her" chair and closed the door. She meowed a couple of times, then settled down.

This morning, as usual she was most annoyed to wait until I refreshed the meat, kibbles & water. She seemed to want me to stay with her. She drank a little water, then came out, meowing, looking all over the house--for Christine, I suspect. We snuggled a while (and I cried), then she went back to the bedroom & settled down in the chair.

Must see if I can find the litter she's been using--what we have now is really basic clay, which gets smelly quickly.
